Handmade costume baby Leia

Yes you read that right. Baby Princess Leia!
I haven't touched on my husband much so far in the blog but to put it bluntly, "HE IS A STARWARS NUT". It's true! in one of those you can ask him any question pertaining to Starwars and he can give you the answer in so much detail that you'd ask him to stop talking. Lol
I love Starwars too. So he tells everyone that he is so lucky to have found me. We like/love the same things, we are both gamers, I'm better at shooters then he is though, (you can ask his friends, they tell him all the time they would rather play MW3 with me then him cause I stay alive longer) haha.
But anyway. Back to the task at hand....
Round 2 of costumes goes to my daughter Sprout.
I was having a tough time trying to figure out what to make her. Hubs wanted to make her a troll. Yes I said a Troll, remember them, the ones with the colorful hair and the jewel on their bellies??... yeah those. But she doesn't have enough hair for that.
So I thought I'd make hubby happy this year and make a Princess Leia Costume.
Of course he was led to believe it was for me.... (hahaha)

Here's my references:

Isn't she a cute Leia!
I had to make a few adjustments but all in all it came out great. I can't wait to take her out for her first Halloween.

Fall is in the air....

The missing piece, Handmade Costume Pt 2

So after realizing I was missing a big part to Bug's costume I sat down late into the night, motivated by my Bugs excitement and a little Florence & the Machine's "Breath of Life" song, and rocked out the Shield.

The inspiration:

What do you get with a Shipping package, foam poster board, paper, markers, a ruler,  drawing pencils, & lots of tape and glue?....

A pretty Awesome Sauce! Shield and a child's smile in the morning so big it reminds you of the Joker! *^_^*

Handmade Costume

So for the last 2 years Bug has been asking me to make his Halloween costume. This year I decided to do it for him. He wanted to be Link from Legend of Zelda.
I went to Jo-Ann's and got some material and got down to business.

After about 2 months a few hiccups in design (I made my own simple pattern's), I finally finished the whole ensemble.

Here's my references:

I even made shoe covers for him that looks like he's wearing boots. I was so glade with the way they turned out.

And there he is! Yep I made that. How cool is that. :) Of course after taking some photo's, only then do I realize I hadn't made a shield for him. eekkkk!! Luckily I have the supplies at home all ready for it.
Poster board, Packaging that's silver on the inside, Makers, Tape, Drawing Pencil, Ruler, Scissors, Xacto knife, & A photo of the shield in question. I'm ready to rock it out. Stay tuned for that.

Bug is so excited to wear his costume. Can't wait to take him out in it!!.

A new friend for Sprout

So I've had some flannel material laying around for a while now and I just couldn't figure out what to do with it. I got it on sale at Jo-Ann's when it was $2.00 a yard. I was thinking of making cute PJ's with it but when I bought it, it was summer time and now looking at it I don't think I have enough for the size she is. I want her to be able to wear it more then once. :)

So any way I was surfing the Internet and I came across a cute little blog called "We Live Happily Ever After" There were a couple of diy sewing plush animals. I just loved the Elephant. So the little light popped on over my head and I knew what I was going to do with the material!.

And here is the end result...

(Note* Sprout's pj's they have Boo from Monster Inc. on them.
I was so excited to find them, just luRve Boo!)
